Summary

I am collecting sponsorship for the Scouting Association Hardship Fund, to help enable UK Scouts or Guides who would not normally be able to afford it, to go to the World Scout Jamboree in 2015.  The Jamborees are held every four years, and being in Japan in 2015 makes this one particularly expensive to attend.

I’m doing this because both of my sons have been lucky enough to go to Jamborees (2007, Essex and 2011, Sweden).   They benefited greatly from the opportunity it gave them to meet young people from 150 countries around the world and to learn about  their different cultures.   I would like to offer something back to the Scouting Association which has had such a major and positive impact on my boys’ childhood and young adulthood.

I have secured 16 weeks’ sabbatical leave from work, and will be undertaking this 1,450 mile walk starting around the end of March 2014.   I’ll be starting at the Lizard Peninsula in the South, and finishing at Dunnet Head in the North, taking in Land’s End, John O’Groats, Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis on the way.   So I will have walked the length of the country from South to North, and climbed the highest peaks in Wales, England and Scotland on the way.

The map below shows a summary of my route and timetable, but you can find out more by clicking here..
